ROUND ROCK, TX — Democrat Caitlin Rourk officially launched her campaign for Texas’ 31st Congressional District today, pledging to bring pragmatic leadership to a community long overlooked by Rep. John Carter.An Army veteran, working mom, and lifelong public servant, Rourk enters the race just days after Carter voted for Donald Trump’s so-called “Big Beautiful Bill” — a plan that will gut Medicaid, raise taxes on working families, and threaten hospitals in Central Texas. Rourk says the vote is yet another example of Carter putting party over people.Republican Congressman John Carter has held the seat since its creation in 2003. At 83, Carter is one of the oldest members of Congress. Early in her career, she worked across party lines to advance complex policy issues, from energy security to deficit reduction, collaborating with stakeholders on both sides of the aisle. Most recently, she worked at Dell Technologies, leading communication efforts for one of the area's largest employers.
